How to Measure Sticky Ingredients

Do you ever have the problem where you measure something sticky and as you continue baking you realize you needed that measuring cup again?  It's happened to me plenty of times, especially since I only have one set of measuring cups.  It takes a while to clean a sticky measuring cup especially when it's something like shortening. I'm defining sticky ingredients as any ingredient that doesn't easily clean off of a measuring cup like flour etc. would. Well here is a very easy and simple trick to solve that problem!

Just take a small amount of plastic wrap.  Press into the measuring cup and make sure that a couple of inches of the plastic wrap hang around the edges.  Measure sticky ingredient.  Some examples are honey, molasses, shortening and peanut butter.  Then pour ingredient into bowl or wherever it needs to go. Sometimes you need a knife to encourage it to come out or sometimes, such with honey, you can just fold the plastic in half as you hold it over the bowl and press out the honey.

And there you go!  Just throw away the plastic wrap and you are left with a perfectly clean measuring cup.
