Chocolate covered brownies! YUM! These are so amazing and the best part is it's super simple! My beautiful sister-in-law is getting married this Friday. (I am so excited for her!) We had her bridal shower this past Saturday and I was going to make cake balls in the shape of hearts but then I was thinking about how long it would take on top of the other long list of things I needed to get done so instead I came up with this much easier but still incredibly yummy idea! And you could do any shape you want. I promise it's super easy. Here is how I did it:
1- Using a brownie mix or your favorite brownie recipe make brownies according to directions and line a 9x13 pan with parchment paper. Do not forget to line it with parchment paper. (I also recommend if you make it from a box to sift it. My mixes are always clumpy.)
2. Once brownies are baked through let them cool. Once cool remove brownies/parchment paper from pan and place on countertop. Using a little heart cookie cutter I cut out as many hearts as I could. I got 21 hearts out of it. Plus a few more by using the brownie scraps and pressing it into the cookie cutter.
3. I lined a cookie sheet with wax paper and placed the cut out brownie hearts on it. Then I put it in the freezer for about 30 minutes.
4. I melted chocolate in a little bowl and then placed the brownie, one at a time, in the chocolate, flipped it over making sure it was covered then pulled it out of the chocolate. I then held it over the bowl letting the chocolate drip off then placed it on wax paper. I used a little dipping tool but a fork would work too.
5. Then as it was setting I melted some baby blue chocolate melts and added a little teal food coloring to it. (My sister-in-law's wedding color is teal.) Then I poured that mixture into a small piping bottle and drizzled it all over the brownies. You could use a fork to do this.
And that's it!
It was a HUGE hit at the bridal shower and they were gone very quickly. For how easy it was I loved how much everyone loved it.
Chocolate Covered Brownies
Ingredients:Brownie Mix (or make your favorite recipe)
Parchment paper
dipping chocolate
Directions:
1- Using a brownie mix or your favorite brownie recipe make brownies according to directions and line a 9x13 pan with parchment paper. Do not forget to line it with parchment paper. (I also recommend if you make it from a box to sift it. My mixes are always clumpy.)
2. Once brownies are baked through let them cool. Once cool, remove brownies/parchment paper from pan and place on countertop. Using a small cookie cutter (any shape you want) cut out as many shapes as you can and place on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper.
With the left over brownie scraps you can either press it into the cookie cutter making more of your desired shape, press it into small balls and dip in chocolate or of course just eat it! :)
3. Place brownies in freezer for 20-40 minutes. Until firm.
4. Melt dipping chocolate in a small bowl according to directions and place one brownie at a time in the chocolate. Using a dipping tool or a fork, press down a little on the brownie and flip over making sure entire brownie is covered in chocolate. Remove from chocolate and holding it above the chocolate let excess chocolate drip down. Place on wax paper. If you want to use sprinkles do it after dipping 2 or 3 brownies. (You need to do it before chocolate is set.) Continue until all brownies are covered in chocolate.
5. If you want to do a drizzle like I did you can either use different color of chocolate melts (like they sell at Hobby Lobby etc.) or you can make royal icing and color it your color of choice and drizzle that over the top. (If you do make the royal icing I highly recommend halving the recipe or even just make 1/4 of it.)
That is it!
Ohhh...my mouth is watering. These looks super tasty. Pinned it so I can try later. I would love if you shared this on my link party.

This might be a silly question, but what kind of dipping tool did you use? I would like to get one of those!
ReplyDeleteAlexa- It's not a silly question! I bought mine from Hobby Lobby in the baking section. They might have it at Walmart too in their baking section. It's only a couple of dollars. Mine is Wilton. I can't find a link to it on line but this is basically the same thing: http://www.amazon.com/CK-Products-81-178-Ateco-Dipping/dp/B0000E2OF1/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1339080514&sr=8-1
