Basmati rice is a favorite in our house. My husband is not a fan of regular white rice and so I was happy when I started cooking basmati rice that he really liked it! We love to serve basmati rice alongside our favorite Indian dishes. Next week I will share a fantastic crock pot Indian dish we love so much we've had it twice in the last month!
A few things to know about basmati rice: it's originally from India and is often used in Indian, Middle Eastern and Persian cooking. It has a dry and fluffy texture and the grains don't stick together, which I like.
This recipe is beyond so simple and your rice will turn out perfect everytime! I've made this a few times and just love it. I hope you enjoy!

Simple Basmati Rice
Slightly adapted from The Food Network (Aarti Seequeira)
Ingredients:
1 cup basmati rice
1 3/4 cups water
large pinch salt
Directions:
Place the rice in a large bowl and fill with fresh, room temperature water. Swirl your hand through the water and the rice for about one minute; the water will go cloudy from the starch. Pour off the water, taking care not to lose any rice. Repeat this washing process until the water runs clear. Usually, this takes 3 or 4 changes of water.
Fill up the bowl 1 more time and let the rice soak for 30 minutes.
At the end of 30 minutes, drain the rice. Fill a medium saucpan with 1 3/4 cups water, add a pinch of salt, and bring to a boil.
Add the rice, stir and wait until the water comes back to a full boil. When it does, turn the heat down as low as it can go, and then cover. Cook for 15 minutes.
At the end of 15 minutes, cut the heat. Let the rice sit for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork and serve.
